Kitchen Table Bench
Kitchen Table Bench – Seating That Saves Room Spaces
If you live in a small house or apartment, you know the value of floor space. In these smaller homes, every inch of floor space that is used needs to have a purpose. There is no room for space. One way to maximize free floor space in the dining area is to use kitchen table bench seating.
Instead of chairs with backs, kitchen table bench seating uses benches. This means that several children may sit together on one bench that takes the place of two or three chairs.
The bench should be the same height as a normal dining chair. It needs to be wide enough that there is no danger of it tipping backwards when someone sits down or stands up. Benches may be padded or plain and offer very comfortable seating for large groups.
When planning to benches, remember that not all seating at the table has to be bench seating. You may just want to replace a couple of chairs on one side with a bench. Alternately, you may choose to replace all side chairs with two benches and keep the end chairs for adult seating. If you choose to replace even the end seating with benches, be sure that you leave a large enough opening at the ends of each bench for people to slide in.
If your kitchen has a dining nook, benches can save even more space. Choose the benches so that they line the walls of the nook. Choose a table that fits inside the benches but gives room for diners to sit comfortably. In essence you are designing a restaurant booth in your own home. Keep a couple of chairs handy for the side of the table that faces the open room and you have created a booth in your home that has seating for many more people than a table and chairs would provide in the same amount of space.
